Bio: As a child of only four years old, my grandfather would often ask me to rub his shoulders and neck on road-trips. Eventually over the next few years my skills were honed more and more to the point that other family members would even ask for a shoulder rub. When I was a teen-ager my father somehow picked up a knack for massage and went to school for such. This is to say, massage therapy apparently runs in the blood. As a young adult my dad's health started to deteriorate after discovering he was a full blown Type II Diabetic.
In my mid-20's, I met a woman who became a very good friend and an encouragement to my natural abilities in knowing where help was needed in the body, focusing on and massaging those areas. For five years Sue tried to convince me that I should take the schooling for massage therapy. Sue has been a licensed therapist for over thirty years.
It turns out that Sue was correct; I do have a natural gift for massage and healing. My dad has undergone many hospital stays and amputations. I am always there with him during those times and now he is a dependant relying on a power chair for mobility. Whenever able, I work on my own dad. I have seen his health go from super healthy to horrible condition over the past 28 years and therefore have compassion for those with health problems whether onset or born with. I have seen the demeanor of people change for the better because someone cares and because they receive touch. I enjoy being that person.
As a student at Universal Body Wellness, I worked in the clinic to pay 80% of my tuition and completed over 200 massages. After completing the Board Exam I continued use of my therapeutic massage skills for volunteer/ministry needs with those unable to pay for services.
