Is your chronic pain controlling you and not letting you enjoy your kids, sports, fun and LIFE? Remember the time when you didn't have pain? Your mood was great. You slept fantastic. You could sit through a movie, no problem. You could play the sports you wanted. You were probably much healthier overall as chronic pain and stress tends to take its toll on our energy, so in turn we do so much less.

According to The American Medical Association (AMA), stress is the cause of 70 to 80 percent of all human illness and disease.Stress is a contributing factor in everything from cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome to backaches and insomnia. These statistics are devastating but we Americans often push ourselves to our limits with deadlines, traffic, too much stimulation, and financial pressure. When you are stressed, your natural killer cells which fight infection and disease are decreased.

Breaking free of the vicious stress cycle can help eliminate aches, pains, illness, and disease. Massage is a perfect and effective way to relieve stress and its effects on your body. Massage does of course have the awesome capabilites of making you feel euphoric but just as important, it eliminates pain and makes you stress less. Massage puts you in a state of rest so that your body can effectively repair itself. It helps cleanse and detoxify the mind and body so you feel balanced again. Research on massage therapy suggests that there is a reduction in stress levels following a massage. We in turn feel less pain, less depressed, less anxious, less fatigued, and have less difficulty falling asleep (Touch Research Institute).

Just Imagine.. you are laying on the massage table in full bliss as your muscles are skillfully worked and relaxed. Your pain and your troubles melt away as the soft music makes you feel like you are floating letting the therapists' hands work wonders. Gone is the back pain and anxiety that existed all day. Want to reclaim your life, feel euphoric, eliminate pain AND stress less? You can look back as the day you made the decision to start leading a pain free life. Wouldn't that make you feel good? Don't put off the pleasure - get started today. Call (510)-417-5773 or email Karen for an appointment.

Bio: Prior to earning my Certificate as a massage therapist, I completed my doctorate in Educational Psychology at the University of San Francisco. At the time I was working on my doctorate, I was also teaching English Composition/Literature at San Francisco State University where I have earned two MA degrees; one in English Composition/Literature, and the other in Broadcast Communication Arts.

Prior to teaching, which I did for 12 years, I worked as an environmental journalist for a national news program that aired in 85 national markets. After our program was cancelled, I began working in film; however, I felt that few of the films I worked on did much in the way of helping society become more intelligent, so I turned to teaching. But once SFSU denied access to the "remedial" students with whom I loved working with most, I decided to become a massage therapist. With this career I am able to work with my clients in order to help them heal themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally.
